Los Padres National Forest
Pine Mountain
Recently, my best friend and I took a day road trip up to Pine Mountain in the Los Padres National Forest.. We just wanted to get away for a day and go somewhere and take some pictures. I had gone up there on Memorial Day on the motorcycle with a group of people and told her how many photo ops there were but we couldn't stop. Her and I decided we would go up there that very next week.
We packed a cooler, the dog and our cameras. Up hwy 33 (Maricopa Hwy) we went in her Jeep Liberty. We took her car because even though it's not a new car she wanted to break it in on its first road trip. It turned out to be the most perfect day we could have had. At 10:30 am we were going through Ojai and on our way up the mountain. I had commented many a winter that I wanted to know how to get up those mountains in the distance where the snow always was. To my surprise, this was it. Our trip began with a warm sunny ride up the canyon. Eager to take some pictures, we made a few stops right away.

We then got on our way up the mountain. As we drove up the highway we noticed the fog. "How interesting" we agreed. As we went up we saw how beautiful this trip would be.What could be better? A day of driving, breathing in fresh air, taking pictures of the landscape and all with your best friend. It's what we both needed. Sometimes taking a day-cation from the monotony is what charges the body and soul.

Random waterfall we happened to spot
We didn't stay long since there was a guy bathing nearby.
No, he had his shorts on. But he did have one of those white, windowless vans, so we moved on.

We also made friends with some cyclists that kept passing us every time we stopped |

I thought this was an interesting shot |
Where did the fog go?
We left it behind and it all changed to a more desert-like scenery.

And then we entered the Cuyama countryside!
